# Assets and packs

The **Assets** step is where pieces come from rather than a step you fill in. Enter it any time.

## Community

Everything on the community shelf is free to take. **Add to this game** copies it in, and the
copy is yours to edit: changes you make never touch the original, and later changes to the
original never touch yours.

A **pack** is several pieces that work together: a hunger plugin with its foods, a bandit camp
with its creatures, loot and location. Pieces inside a pack can only be added with the whole
pack, since they depend on each other.

## My library

What you have saved yourself, ready to add to any of your games.

## Making a pack

**Make a pack** bundles pieces of this game into one asset, to keep for your next game or to
publish for others. Include what the pieces need: a spell pack whose scrolls apply a *Burning*
effect should carry that effect too, or it arrives in someone else's game pointing at nothing.

Shipping a system rather than content? A [plugin](/docs/plugins) is the better unit: it can be
switched off, and it carries its own settings.
